About Oak Harbor Freight Lines
Company traces its roots to 1916, when It was founded by Ben Koetje as a local cartage carrier serving Whidbey Island, Washington. In 1936, brothers John and Gus Vander Pol purchased the small carrier, later joined by their brother Henry in 1937. In 1942, the family merged in another carrier, Oak Harbor Freight Lines, adopting that name for the combined operation.
The company remained a family business through subsequent generations, with Henry Vander Pol taking full ownership in 1974, followed by his sons Edward and David. Following deregulation in 1980, Company expanded into a respected regional LTL (less-than-truckload) carrier, now operating 41 terminals across Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, including hubs in Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Boise. The company employs over 1,900 people and reports annual revenues exceeding $350 million, currently led by Co-Presidents Eric Vander Pol and Dan Vander Pol. Through strategic partnerships, They also extends their freight services across the broader United States and Canada.
