Scheme Overview
The Government of West Bengal launched the Banglar Yuva Sathi Prakalpa during the Budget 2026–27 session. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced this initiative to support educated unemployed youth. The scheme operates under the Department of Youth Services and Sports. It targets young job-seekers who have completed their Madhyamik examination. The state government allocated Rs. 5,000 crore for its full implementation.
Financial Assistance Provided
Eligible beneficiaries receive Rs. 1,500 per month under this scheme. The government transfers this amount directly through Aadhaar-based Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Funds reach the beneficiary’s bank account without any manual intervention. The assistance continues for a maximum period of five years. A beneficiary can receive up to Rs. 90,000 over the full tenure. Payments stop as soon as the individual secures employment.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must be permanent residents of West Bengal to qualify. Their age must fall between 21 and 40 years as on April 1, 2026. They must have passed Madhyamik or an equivalent board examination. Currently employed individuals in government or private jobs cannot apply. Those already receiving benefits under Yuvashree or Yuva Utsaha Prakalpa are also ineligible. However, recipients of Aikyashree, Medhasree, Shikhyashree, and Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Scholarship can still apply.
Documents Required
Applicants must submit several documents during registration. Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or Ration Card serves as domicile proof. Madhyamik Admit Card and Mark Sheet are mandatory educational documents. A valid bank passbook linked to Aadhaar is also required. Applicants must attach a recent passport-size photograph. Three separate forms — application form, self-declaration form, and bank mandate form — must be filled out and submitted.
Application Process Explained
The government offered both online and offline application methods. Offline camps ran from February 15 to February 26, 2026, at BDO, SDO, and Municipality offices. The Duare Sarkar model helped cover all 23 districts of West Bengal. Online applicants registered through the official portal at yubasathi.wb.gov.in. They verified their mobile number via OTP and created a secure account. After logging in, applicants filled personal details, uploaded documents, and submitted the form. Each successful submission generated a unique Application ID for future reference.
Status Tracking Feature
The portal allows applicants to check their Banglar Yuva Sathi application status online. Users enter their registered mobile number or Application ID on the status page. The system then displays the current stage of the application. This feature removes the need to visit any government office. Applicants receive SMS updates on their registered mobile number automatically.
Scheme Impact and Reach
The scheme directly addresses youth unemployment across West Bengal. It covers all 23 districts, including Kolkata, Howrah, Murshidabad, and Darjeeling. Young job-seekers can use the Rs. 1,500 monthly amount for exam fees, travel, and daily expenses. The Banglar Yuva Sathi Prakalpa bridges the financial gap between education and employment. It gives youth the stability to focus on competitive exam preparation and skill-building.
